The curation of my exhibit explores an absurd immersive experience. I was inspired by how each room in the Thorvaldsen Museum has different patterned floors based on varying roman mosaic styles, which to me creates a maze-like circulation. In terms of relating my concept to Karen’s philosophy she states that she “wants to eliminate the distance between the logical/concrete world of form, ” this expresses her interest in exploring the absurd. In order to create an absurd experience I developed a maze for circulation starting from plan, similar to Karen’s process when she works on her sculptures. The maze allows for no consistent pattern and one does not know what will come next, this allows the viewer to explore and play with the exhibit. The exhibit is massive in size, but this just further amplifies the absurd as you walk amongst a labyrinth of steel poles, with the help of the light guiding you along the immersive path. Each of Karen’s pieces are located at the window amongst the network of passages that the steel poles create.
